TurningPoint XR Voting System

TurningPoint XR Voting System

Turning Point failed to impress last time with their basic voting system units, so can the revamped
ResponseCard XR fare any better with multiline LCD screens and more buttons to press?

The XR units are revamped units, with alphanumeric-labelled buttons from ‘A’ to ‘J’, and ‘1′ to ‘0′. Additional buttons include ‘Yes’ / ‘No’, a ‘Menu’ and ‘SEL’ to navigate around, and a decimal point for numerical work.

The firmware of the devices can be upgraded to ensure it stays current, and new as-of-yet-unreleased features can be programmed into the device via the unit’s USB port.

Powered by two AAA batteries, battery life is good, lasting between six to twelve months. The LCD screen indicates current battery status, along with the channel number, the answer choice, and response confirmation for uploading results.

If adjacent classrooms are using Turning Point units, they can use another channel without interference between the two. There are 74 channels to allow for up to 74 sessions, but we doubt that many would be needed. However, with 32 units, it would be possible to split the class up into separate groups for differentiated questions.
